This short course will cover the basics of roasting green coffee at home, as well as easy grinding and brewing of maybe the best coffee you have ever tasted.  There is no mystery to roasting coffee, but you do need to learn a few techniques and have a little equipment to do it.  And, it does not take a lot of time.  Home roasted batches typically roast in about 10 minutes.  Even if you are satisfied with canned store-bought coffee brewed in a percolator (remember that kind of pot?), but are curious about how really freshly roasted coffee tastes, this course may just be right for you.

We are going to roast some fresh beans (they are really seeds), and brew some samples for tasting.  I will cover a bit of  terminology associated with coffee roasting and brewing.  You will go home with a sample of freshly roasted coffee, and a red (nod to Red Door) Melitta pour-over cone.  I would venture to say that if you have never tasted fresh roasted and properly brewed coffee, you are in for a very pleasant surprise.
